The eighteenth annual craft fair was held at Antigua, begining on Thursday, May 5th through to Sunday 8th. The event took place on a sportsground in Antigua. There were well over a hundred stalls, and crafts people from all over the Canary Islands showed not just their wares, but demonstrations of their crafts. A wide variety of crafts were on show, furniture making, basket weaving, a variety of leather goods, jewellery making, pottery and musical instrument making. It is very interesting to see unique articles being crafted, and to see the creativity of those living on the islands. On the Friday the feria was visited by coach loads of children from various schools in the area, making it a very noisy affair indeed.
Inside one of the halls lots of children and adults wander around watching the craftsfolk at work.
These are two craft stalls. Freda, of Three Dimensions , creates beautiful hand crafted sterling silver jewellery, whilst Lionel Arribas produces original works in wood.
