Things for children to do in Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura

Caleta de Fuste is a family friendly resort and there are lots of things to do with the kids, such as tiring them out in the play areas, or snorkelling in the clear safe waters. There are a host of other things to do that will help keep the youngsters amused.

The beach

There are lots of things to keep children occupied in Caleta that don't cost much money! Fishing for example, if children wade just a yard into the sea the fish will swim around their feet. Children can either feed these with bread, or they can try to catch them. Children love this as the fish are tantalisingly close but are very difficult to catch. This can keep them occupied for hours. There are also many rock pools that children can explore.

Building sandcastles has always been a popular pastime and Caleta de Fuste's beach is perfect for this. There are always sand sculptors at work on the beach, and at least one of these offers classes to children, showing them how to create simple but effective structures.

Feeding Animals

Feeding other animals, especially the chipmunks, also provides amusement. The chipmunks along the path to Nuevo Horizonte are particularly cheeky, and will run up to you to take nuts or biscuits from your hand. While you are feeding the chipmunks collared doves and trumpeter finches invariably turn up for their share.

Other activities

In the centre of Caleta there are several play parks that children can enjoy. The one close to the small tourist office, near the roundabout with the fountain has a sand floor and a particularly impressive climbing frame made from rope.

There are several amusement arcades, with the usual range of games that you would expect to find. All of these have internet access that is better value than that to be found in most of the hotels.

There are several mini golf courses dotted around the town. We don't think they will be holding the Spanish Open, but the people who play on them seem to enjoy themselves.

Some children may be interested in the skeleton of a whale that is to be seen at Las Salinas, a half hour walk south of the Atlantico Shopping centre.

If you have children and would like a break from them then there is a childcare service in the town. See Caleta childcare
