My girlfriend is pregnant and we are wondering about the quality of gynecologists and clinics in the island (around corralejo). We will be here in May and she will probably give birth on the island in november.

Does anyone got information about this subject ?

We know several women who have given birth here over the last 5 years, and had only ever heard good reports of the hospital and all other services connected with giving birth.

The only hospital is in Puerto del Rosario which is 30 minutes drive from Corralejo.

One thing to consider is that you have to be registered with the Social Security office to qualify for treatment at the hospital. You will need to do this soon after your arrival.

Where are you, or more importanly she, coming from? She might be able to receive treatment based on her home countries agreements with Spain.

Yes, I don't know what the situation is in France, but British people that have enough payments and who are not going to work can get a form to arrange cover for two years. It would be interesting to know what the situation was for French people.

I just looked it up on the internet. It replaces the old E111 form. The E111 form applied here. As far as I know health care rules for Fuerteventura are the same as if you were travelling to mainland Spain.
