We hear that the travel companies are at it again, talking down Fuerte, that is. Same old stuff. "Don't go to Corralejo, because the building work that is going on there will spoil you holiday......"
Also reps are portraying the centre of Corralejo as unsafe in the evening, ie after 9 "so stay in the hotel bar?????".
Anyone heard this kind of bunkum?

We have stayed in Corralejo for the last two years, and yes we are back in September to make it 3 in a row. We think it is safe. But of course this year there are the stories about the immigrants from Africa. Has this made a difference ? We will find out soon.

The issue of illegal immigrants affecting holidays on Fuerteventura does not exist. The immigrant problem is big news in Spain at the moment because the immigrants that arrive, mainly in Gran Canaria, are detained in centres on the island or transferred to the mainland.
The problem as far as the Spanish are concerned is that the differnt principalities feel they are not being treated equally in respect of the numbers of immigrants that they are expected to cope with, and also that the cental government is not supplying the extra funds needed to cope with the influx.
