You might not know, or could have forgotten that there was a problem with the licence issued to build the Las Rotundas shopping centre.

The licence did not cover it being as big as it is, so some of it has to be demolished.

This decision was taken a while back, but nothing has happened up until now.

The courts have ordered the ayuntamiento to provide a written outline of how this will be done within the next month or two. It's fixed, but I can't remeber if it's a month or two months.

There are articles in both Canarias7 and La Provincia that include details of the demands made by the political opposition for a full council meeting to discuss matters.

It should be interesting to see what they come up with.

I do hope they have to demolish the ground floor - it'll be such fun to see how they manage to keep the upper floors open :).

I'm sure there'll be a last-minute getout - those two RIU monstrosities in the Corralejo dunes are there for evermore, after all.

I'd forgotten that there was an on-going problem. It takes such a long time for action to go through the courts.

Something I saw said there would be a fine of 1500 euro for every day that passes after the deadline to submit the report has passed. That might concentrate a few minds.

There are a few empty shops, so knocking a bit down will help it to be full.

A local trader I know says that the small businesses in the area get jumped on if the make small infractions, but that doesn't happen to or in Las Rotondas.

There you are then: last-minute getout is absolutely assured.
