It was on the local news yesterday that the new shopping centre has had its opening licence annulled by a Judge; despite the fact that it was given a building licence 5 years ago and has been open for 15 months. :o

The reason given was that the shopping centre has been built in an area of Puerto, which did not have such a centre designated in the Development Plan.

So a large shopping centre is open; and the court has said it shouldn't be there!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then, to make matters worse, it has also been revealed that the Centre does not have a Canarian Government Commercial Licence. :!:

What will happen next? :?:

What is happening with Origo Mare, the place on the north coast which had some sort of problem with the licences not being what they should be?
I heard that they might have to return the whole area back to its original state.
Are the Google maps good enough to be able to put each lump of rock back where it came from?
Most of the newer retail areas are a bit further out of town. perhaps the can move the whole of Las Rotundas a few hundred metres to the west and then build a couple of glorietas.

After 9 months of legal proceedings, it has now been announced that the Canarian Goverment Appeal Court has upheld a previous decision that most of the Las Rotundas Shopping Centre is illegal.

The latest appeal was submitted by the developers. It is now expected that the Ayuntiemento of Puerto del Rosario will appeal next. If any demolition has to take place then the Ayuntiemento will have to pay out millions of euros in ompensation to the developer.

We'll see what happens over the next few months!!!

Given that the owner of the land ,who also owns Norty Sur bought the land many years ago and turned it into the breeze block yard that made most of the buildings we all live in, Is by our standards very rich i cannot see it ever coming down .
Maybe a deal to be done like the two hotels where something is exchanged for a thirty year lifespan on the building.
Although saying that every shop was issued with a letter last thursday that did not go down too well with them.
