The headline in the paper yesterday said that a new golf course in Corralejo, near the dunes, had received a green light. The story seemed to say, however, that what had actually been approved was a study on the environmental effects of the course. Does anyone have more information?

The new course in Morro Jable may well open in April this year. The course is complete and looking good, but the discussions about who will manage the course are still ongoing.
The second course in Caleta has been open since October.

Don't mean to be frivolous but thought all golfers went to portugal and why on earth do grown men and women want to chase a little white ball round hitting it with a stick. :?

The presence of the golf courses is good for the island. Catering for all tastes is a good idea and the restaurants etc in the areas where the golf courses are located will benefit.
The grown men and women have always chased a little ball with a stick. There must be close to a hundred courses here already, and you are right. They are crazy.
The golf courses in Caleta also add quite a bit of green to the view from Chipmunk mountain.

Apparently the golf course in Jandia has not opened because no one asked the owner of a narrow strip of land that crosses the course, if they could use it. He has refused except for a large sum. Not sure if this is true, its just what we were told and frankly we have heard all sorts of stories from the Spanish people to do with various things. I think stories are made up to keep the delays going.
There is also the first 6 holes of a new golf course in Las Playitas. This is a lovely little course which is great for a relaxing afternoon, you can do 6 or 12 or even 18! The pro is Murdo and very helpful. At least twice a month they have a tournament which is great fun.

The bar is also well stocked for the non players! Or you can go for a walk on the beach.
Las Playitas is just north of Gran Tarajal.

There are 4, 18 hole golf courses on the island now:
Fuerteventura Golf Club and Las Salinas in Caleta de Fuste, Las Playitas and Jandia.

we heard that one was being built on the moon land up by nuevos ? that was probably just a ploy by agents to get you buying up there.
although something does need to be done about the land up there !! maybe even plant it and put some paths through there ? :?
