I don't know much about golf, but from what I've read, the Salinas course is the prefered one.

This weekend they are holding a Spanish PGA Tournament there. I think there are 146 players teeing off in the first round.

I'll go down and see the final few holes on Sunday afternoon.

Any idea on the approximate costings for

a round? (9 or 18 holes)
club hire?

is an offical handicap needed before you can play any of the courses?

cheers in advance for any info, much appreciated.

Tony.

Hi TBTB :!:

If You rent a car go also to Las Playitas Golf, situated south coast of island near Gran Tarajal and a lovely one, they also have there Olympic size heated pool for those who don´t play.
Look at

Have played both the courses in Caleta, Salinas would be my preferred course, although when we play it, we allow each other take our ball off the pecan , black stone, (no nearer the hole, sideways mostly), as playing off it can severely damage your clubs. It takes a bit of playing, using many different clubs off the t-boxes, and the 11th hole is drivable over a lake when the wind is at your back !! It's usually €55 to play and €3 for a trolley, €25 for a cart, but if you play with a member he can get a cart for €5 !!

The Elba's course has more of a parkland feel to it and it seems longer to me than Salinas, peoples houses seem to be more noticeable when your playing Elba, and your not allowed to cut corners over their houses and getting caught doing so is an automatic escort from the golf course and a ban on future playing !! It's a similar price for golf and carts etc, but their range is better than Salinas in my opinion and Salinas practice putting green is the more superior, in my humble opinion.

No, they don't ask for handicaps, and they seem to run a relaxed atmosphere regarding ethicate on clothing etc, unlike the stuffy golf clubs in Britain and Ireland !! Enjoy the golf mate , I love it !!

Enjoy, another tip is to bring plenty of balls and tees etc because the they are expensive in both of the Pro shops and the sports shops in Corralejo/Caleta have a very poor supply of any golf gear !!

just an update. local magazine gazette i think has a coupon for use along with a 35 euro spend in the pro shop you can play for free or 5 euros cant remember which. but it is a good deal should you need any golf gear.
