Legless, you know that Ducks are a much loved and protected species, so shooting them is not an option. I was only doing a little market research to see i big game hunting was a viable business idea.

Is there any way of controlling the numbers of the chipmunks? I noticed that when we were out there two years ago on the front between calet and Nuevo horizonte just by the san jorge hotel there were hundreds of rats running through the rocks!!! When we returned a year later I didn't see one. It is alright for us tourists who go home again after two weeks or so. But when you have a livelihood to keep it is a different matter. We love Fuerte and everything about the island and would move out there tomorrow if we had the finances. The hotels actively encourage people to go out and feed the chipmunks, so being very ignorant that is what we did on our very first visit some 6 years ago!!!!! and have done ever since.

Mr.Duck.You know I love ducks as much as the rest but I also love the chipmunks as well. The thought of their little heads looking so surprised as the shot goes straight through the skull just fills me with sadness.I agree that they are a problem but there should be a national park that runs between Caleta and Neuvo where the chipmunks can frolic at leisure and continue to amuse the tourists.

The kestrels do get the chipmonks, I tried to get a photo but it was all too quick to take a sharp pic. There are a lot of chipmonks though.
