I was out walking the dog today, and I thought about how many properties there are in Caleta, and how many are actually occupied.

Up Montana Blanca, there are loads of empty properties on Marina Golf, Mirador, Atalaya Park, 19th hole, Montana Blanca Club etc; and then there are all the ones on both of the golf courses!

Yes, there are lots. I personally would not like to live any higher up the hill than the green roofed houses, especially on the side looking towards Puerto as the wind is nearly always blowing too hard for comfort.

Lots of those complexes were started as part of the property boom and now the bust is here they wont be easy to shift.

Is the building of new units still progressing or has it all stopped? What about the refurbishment projects ie Castillo Mar, Monte castillo etc are they still progressing?

Which complex are the green roofed houses? Are there any other locations affected by the climate etc? I need to bear these in mind when I next come out to look.

The green roofed houses are where we live - Villas de Artenara. We've got a nice view of the sea, but we are not too far up the hill - we can still walk to town and back.

New houses up the mountain like the Miramar complex and the Atalaya Park complex will be affected by the wind on most days of the year, as they are in direct line of the prevailing NE wind and are above 100 metres above sea level.

Any building work that has been started in the past year is slowly being finished off. I can't think of any new building projects that have been started in the past year.

The same goes for refurbishment work - slow progress, as I don't think many builders are being employed because of the drop off in demand for properties.
