Fuermetal 2005 Fuerteventura
Feria del Metal de Fuerteventura 2005

Fuermetal, a four day event has been happening for the last 5 years. It is presented by the City Hall of Fuerteventura, the Department of Industry and Commerce and Maxometal (Business Association of those that work in metals). The venue this year was by the new bus station in Puerto del Rosario.

Sporting events

There were some sporting events including a Parachute jump from 1500-3000 meters, organized by the Club Skydive South Great Canary, carried out by a group of 30 parachutists of different clubs of Canaries. Ciclomanía Exhibition of Trial bikes, including the participation of David Moreno, champion of España de Bike-Trial. Fuertehobby Exhibition of mechanical remote-controlled cars, 4x4 miniatures, and Ean exhibition of 4x4 vehicles, attended by Gallant, who articipated in the Paris-Dákar 17 day bike challenge.

There was also an exposition of astrophotography, Islas de Luz by Manuel Díaz Sosa, which took place in The Casa del Cultura de Puerto del Rosario.

Exhibitors

The event is also an arena for exhibitors to show their range, and there was a wide range of vehicles on display from motorbikes, buggies, cars, boats trucks and specialised work vehicles.

There were also lots of computers on display and a range of goods for the home, primarily in metal

Other things to see

 

The Cabildo are intending to create a museum of working vehicles and two (see above) were on display. One is from Cofete and was the first vehicle used to transport goods in the Morro Jable region. The second was a bulldozer used to create the first roads on the island.

Also they are planning to create an 800 square meter technology park de Fuerteventura, in four phases, close to where the old airport was in Los Estancos, west of Puerto del Rosario. It will use renewable energy resources, they are hoping to attract technology companies to provide economic diverification looking at new communication technology.

The event was attended by Mario Cabrera who gave an interview regarding this to the television media.
