Fuermetal 2007
Held 29th of November till the 2nd of December, Puerto del Rosario
Fuermetal is a meeting point for businesses from Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, and showing the latest technologies and developments to the public. It is held each year near to the new bus station in Puerto Del Rosario.
Although it is essentially a business fair it is well worth a visit as you can have a look at the latest technology in motorboats, cars, sustainable energy solutions, mobile homes, household and computer equipment etc. and get up to date information on many other things. With a little bit of luck (and cheek) you can go home with a bag full of freebees. If you show a little interest in a particular business ready filled plastic bags will be thrust your way!
The theme of this years event was the Continent of Africa, especially Morocco, Capo Verde, Senegal and Mauritania. Our neighbours were present in most of the exhibition tents. With the start of the ferry connection from Fuerteventura to Morocco, due to begin in December, trading with Africa will be even easier and that is expected to give an economical boost to both African regions and Fuerteventura.
Fuermetal gets bigger each year. The number of exhibitors rose by about 35%, with 8 large exhibition tents hosting about 80 businesses. On the other side of the road is a big terrain where you can watch demonstrations of outdoor activities like driving with quads, stunt bikes and 4-wheel-drives. And of course you can buy plenty of Canarian or other food and drinks. It cost €3 per person to visit but is well worth it!
