Football on Fuerteventura.

The 2007-2008 season, their first in this division since their last promotion was a great one for UD Fuerteventura as they were in the top few positions for most of the season. They also reached the promotion playoffs, the first leg here was a 0:0 draw, so everything was on the away leg and as away goals counted double we knew we were in with a chance. The sunnyfuerteventura team went to the game, and along with a few other diehard supporters were given free hats, t shirts and tickets to the game. Sadly though we lost 3:0 with Alicants scoring twice within a few minutes!

Still the success of last season gives us a lot of hope for this new one. We have a few new signings and a new club football strip. You can get shirts from a shop in Corralejo, you can buy souvenirs at the shop by the roundabout closest to the ground.

For a pre season game - XVI Torneo Memorial Manuel Velázquez Cabrera is a triangular football day on August 15 starting at 11:00 a.m., between UD Pájara Playas de Jandía , UD Fuerteventura and Tiscamanita CF. After the game (2pm) trophys will be given out and there will be lunch at the Sports Stadium annexed to the soccer stadium in Tiscamanita.

Getting there.

The ground is easily located, especially if coming from Caleta, as the big sign in the background of the picture is visible from a long way off. Kick of is generally 11am on Sundays.

Corner kick

The Fremap sign makes it easy to find the ground. The ticket office has now been improved and you no longer have to bend down to get a ticket.

Union Antigua play on Saturdays at around 5pm.

It is about a fifteen minute trip to their ground from Caleta, you turn left just before the end of the road that leads from Nuevo Horizonte to Antigua, and the ground is on your left. There are plenty of parking spaces.
