This game ended in an entertaining 0-0 draw as Fuerteventura played out the last 15 minutes with 10 men and their coach banished to the stands.
As might be expected from last year's table toppers Pontevedra were of a better standard than some of the other sides we have seen at Los Pozos so far this season. The game started in its usual manner with passes being zipped around the pitch, with the visitors having the better of the opening exchanges. These were limited to shots from distance that were just wide of Zapa's goal or within his comfort zone.
Fuerteventura came into the game more as the half progressed and produced a couple of potential opportunities that were not developed as a result of the final ball or touch being less than perfect. The sides went in at half time with honours even and after the restart Fuerteventura came out with a renewed commitment to winning the ball and as a result looked like the side more likely to score without actually creating a clear cut chance, while Pontevedra always remained in the game and threatened to score when a well worked series of pases down the right wing resulted in a quality cross from Igor that could not be converted by either of the players that had followed the play forward.
On 77 minutes there was a minor skirmish between Maciot and Victor resulted in Miguel and then the trainer being sent off because the referee took offence at their opinions. The extra man gave Pontevedra an advantage that resulted in them resuming the box seat, but despite their best efforts they were unable to conjure up a chance that troubled an assured Zapa in the Fuerteventura goal.
