Hotels on Fuerteventura

Range of Quality Hotels.

Fuerteventura has a wide range of hotel accommodation available from budget to the highest quality 5 star rating. Many of the older hotels have been completely refurbished to suit more discerning visitors, so that tourists return to the island time and time again. The Cabildo has a long term plan to increase the amount of visitors to the island and new hotels have been built around the island to accommodate the increase. You will find English speaking staff in all the hotels on the island.

All Inclusive

Many of the hotels now offer all-inclusive packages where all your food, soft drinks and local alcoholic beverages are included in the price, and you may also be able to upgrade your accommodation to all-inclusive after you arrive, for an extra charge. All inclusive is an excellent way of managing your holiday budget. However, eating out is an important part of Spanish culture, the Spanish will often bring their whole family out for a leisurely meal late into the evening. If you always dine in your hotel you will miss out on this cultural experience. The all-inclusive package mean that people tend to spend more of their time in the hotel and don't get to experience the variety of activities that Fuerteventura has to offer.

Main Tourist Resorts

The main tourist resort on the island would be Corralejo, on the northern part of the island. This is probably the most popular resort for British tourists, and is popular with watersports enthusiasts. Caleta de Fuste, a quieter less comercial resort, is an excellent base for touring the island being more centrally positioned, and has beautiful sheltered safe sandy beaches. Caleta has mainly British tourists, but also some German, Italian, and Dutch amongst others. At the south of the island is Jandia, which includes the resorts of Costa Calma and Morro Jable. Traditionally this part of the island is visited mainly by German tourists although there is an increasingly growing number of British tourists. Finally, there is the fishing village of El Cotillo. this is popular with everyone, being one of the prettiest areas on Fuerteventura.

Fuerteventura and Things To Do

Fuerteventura is the sunniest of the Canary Islands and Spanish and Canarian people from the other Canary Islands come to Fuerteventura for their own holidays. Fuerteventura is known for being a windy island, which is good as the cooling wind makes the really hot weather a feel a lot more comfortable. The hotels are built with the wind in mind and the pool areas are built so that the wind is not a problem when lazing by the hotel pool. On many of the beaches stone windbreaks have been built for sun worshippers to shelter inside. The island has many religious festivals, fiestas, sporting events and music concerts happening most of the time.
