Tero Brito will be the crier of a fair focused on the figure of Juan Jose Felipe Lima, under the theme ‘Literature and Journalism'

Puerto del Rosario, April 7, 2009. The Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the four municipalities of the island presented today at a press joint and individual schedules for the upcoming Book Fair, which celebrates its twenty edition of 23-26 this month at the Library Center of the Island capital under the organization of Fuerteventura Cabildo, in collaboration with municipal governments.

LIMA JOSÉ JUAN FELIPE

 

It has been 40 years of the death of journalist majorero, Juan Jose Felipe Lima, which pays tribute to the officer who was the first chronicler of Puerto del Rosario and initiator of audiovisual information in Fuerteventura. For nearly two decades, the island man, as some called it, was the voice of Fuerteventura in radio and press. Bore the correspondent on the island of the province and the Echo of Canary and The Day of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and later Spanish Television and Radio Nacional de España, as well as Radio Atlantic Radio Gran Canaria and Sahara.

 

Worked in La Vanguardia in Barcelona, and the magazine Antena Deportiva de Lanzarote. He was a tenacious populariser of traditions and customs of the island and a timely report of how it happened. For this edition of the Fair has wanted to move its location to the Island Library Center, where he developed an extensive program of cultural activities, which include a marathon reading, meetings with authors, lectures, theater, storytelling, children's workshops and performances, which is common in various forms constitute the cause of a rapprochement between the book, the author and readers, promoted books and reading and arousing interest among non-readers, those persons of any age who have not yet discovered the pleasure of read.

 

For the first time in its twenty year history, the Fair will be dedicated to journalism, as represented by the figure of Juan Jose Felipe Lima, a man who claimed and obtained Fuerteventura was present in the media since the late forties.
