Car hire demand on the up.

After a couple of years where the economic crisis has affected tourism on Fuerteventura, the tourists have returned in force with occupancy rates up around 90% for the month of August.

When things were quiet some of the car hire companies reduced their stocks of cars, but with fewer tourists this did not create problems, and there were always cars to be found.

The increase in tourist numbers has meant that the demand is outstripping supply. Some holiday makers have arrived with the intention of booking a car when they arrived only to find that there are not the same number of cars readily available. This has lead to them spending part of their holiday looking for a car to hire and having to plan their time around when one was available.

If you want to be sure of having a car when you arrive, you would be well advised to book before arriving, at least until the end of August, but also if you are thinking of visiting at any other traditionally busy time.
