The mayoress Claudina Moral regrets the inconvenience to pedestrians and drivers due to the 450 plants and shrubs that are being planted in the first phase of improvements to gardened areas in and around Corralejo.
New trees will be planted and the existing flowerbeds will be replanted with the irrigation systems repaired or replaced. Some of the public areas will have gardened areas and some new paving will be put in place too.
In la Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Fuerteventura y Gran Canaria, lots of planting has already been done, and this will be continued along other roads in the town, over the next few months. The gardeners also been at work in Avenue Juan Carlos I, and during the next 6 months the work will be extended to improve the main streets and roundabouts at the entrances to Corralejo, especially in the busier and more touristy areas.
In the spring there should be a noticeable difference to the look of the town as the plants have been chosen in various shades and at a variety of heights, in order to make an impressive display. We need to change radically all the landscaped areas to improve the environment, as this is important both for those that live in the town and for the tourists. "Making the gardened areas interesting and pretty helps enormously to improve the image of the town", claims the mayoress, Claudina Moral.
The predicted investment for these works is over 36.000 euro.
