The first flight by Ryanair from Dublin to Fuerteventura arrived on the island on the 12th December slightly ahead of schedule. The passengers were very pleased with the prices. The first flight from a new point of departure, or by a new carrier would normally have been met by local dignatories but this flight was part of a trial run.
The III Marcha, Cyclista, Kilometros Contra Cancer took place on December 6th and the event was a great success. Around 400 cyclists took part, including 27 prefessional riders, many of whom had travelled from other Canary Islands for the event.
The Xuntanza de Cocina Galega SL and the ayuntamiento of Antigua have organised, between the 5th and 10th of December a gastronomic event with the best products of Galicia. Mussels, spider crabs, octopus nécoras (small edible crabs), crayfish, shrimp, lobster, pie or rice are some of the gems that can be consumed.
The Casa de los Coroneles, in La Oliva, was opened by the King and Queen of Spain on the 26th November 2006, having been fully restored and is now open to the public.
