Ryanair Dublin to Fuerteventura

The first flight by Ryanair from Dublin to Fuerteventura arrived on the island on the 12th December slightly ahead of schedule. The passengers were very pleased with the prices. The first flight from a new point of departure, or by a new carrier would normally have been met by local dignatories but this flight was part of a trial run.

The first flight was so sucessful that two planes were needed to cope with the demand. Both arrived within a minute of each other.

The manager of the Patronado de Tourismo, Antonio Cabrera, told us that the authorities on Fuerteventura are in discussion with Ryanair with a view to having a total of five different routes servicing Fuerteventura, including Barcelona. He also said that discussions were taking place with other low cost airlines, to bring cheaper flights into Fuerteventura, but that the discussions were in the early stages.

Judging by the reaction of the passengers, and the fact that an extra plane was needed, it looks as though Fuerteventura will soon be on the map as far as low cost carriers from the Uk and Ireland are concerned. There are already low cost carriers operating flights to and from Germany and Spain.
