The island has taken a step forward in 2008 by hosting the world congresses of Itako and Tui, and conventions of international companies like Loreal and Novartis Pharmaceutical.
The Tourism Council of Fuerteventura left Barcelona after attending the European Incentive Business Travel Market (EIBTM),with good news after one of the most important trade fairs at international level for tourist conferences, incentive events, travel Business and Congress of the world.
Fuerteventura was present during the fair, held from Tuesday 2nd until Thursday Dec. 4th, and occupied a space next to the other islands of the archipelago in the Canaries booth, at a congress that had an estimated attendance of about 4,000 professionals.
The visitors were mainly executives responsible for organizing business trips, congresses, conferences, events and incentive trips, for agencies, associations, large companies and conference organizers.
"The presence of Fuerteventura in the EIBTM, comes at a sweet moment in regard to this particular segment of tourism, after the success achieved in 2008, when Fuerteventura hosted nothing less than the world congress of the tourism company that sends most of our tourists, TUI Travel, and just a week ago the world congress of Itako, which is the largest tourist operator of the emerging market, Poland. In addition, we could also potentially have two other important conventions of international companies, Loreal and pharmaceutical company Novartis," explained the Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo, Agueda Montelongo.
