Road safety training

La consejería de Transportes y Comunicaciones del Cabildo de Fuerteventura, under the direction of Pilar Rodríguez, will run an educative program about road safety. This project, which is pioneering within the islands, will run in the last two weeks of March, and the target audience will be children aged 2 to 6 who attend nurseries on the island.

Pilar Rodríguez noted that given the importance these days of road awareness education and the prevention of risk, it is important that the educative process be started by educating the youngest children in the basics of road safety.

This ambitious project is aimed at training an assessing the youngsters, taking account of their age. With this aim, the program has been designed as a series of imaginative activities with a common denominator.

A puppet will be used to explain the basics, including the need to wear a seatbelt, that they should always hold the hand of an adult when crossing the road and the correct use of pedestrian crossings.

The project will also allow the children to act as a means of refreshing the memories of adults, with respect to road safety.
