Apart from one exceptional rainstorm which caused flooding in early December, there has been almost no rain falling on Fuerteventura over the last year. One would expect at least three days of constant rain to have fallen in January which would replenish the reservoirs and ponds that the wildlife requires.
The reservoir below has reeds that show that it is normally full of water but there is nothing in it at them moment. The government is undertaking the planting of trees and shrubs to reduce the desertification of Fuerteventura but (sorry tourists) we still need some rain!
