24 hour Kayak event, piraguismo on Fuerteventura.
The first 24 hour canoeing competition, (piraguismo) in the Canaries, took place on the 28th and 29th January, 2006.
Cristina Spínola, presents her book "Sola"
The journalist Cristina Spínola was in Fuerteventura to present her new book, "Sola", or in English Alone, which describes the story of the 26 days she spent cycling alone through the Canary Islands archipeligo.
Progress at Reclaiming Los Estancos
A recent meeting at the Cabildo that was attended by consejero de Medio Ambiente del Gobierno de Canarias and the consejero insular de Ordenación del Territorio, Jesús León, discussed the progress of the work in reclaiming the former tip at Los Estancos, Puerto del Rosario.
Smoking ban
Fuerteventura, being one of the Canary Islands and therefore a haven for smokers, due to the low price of tobacco, will be affected by stringent anti-smoking laws that came into force today, the 1st January.
Cultural Centre for Corralejo
A new cultural centre, situated in Corralejo, will soon be fully functional, and will completely transform cultural life in the town. The centre is situated in the Southeastern part of the Baku leisure park, overlooking Huriamen Street.
Court Ruling Set To Raise Airfares?
Since February of 2005, EC legislation has been in place that give the right to air passengers to be compensated if they are bumped off a flight, or suffer a delays. EC Regulation N° 261/04 allows compensation for being bumped from a flight of up to €600.
