Emergency services have been kept busy this week with a couple of problems occuring between Caleta de Fuste and the airport.
The first was an accident just outside El Mattoral when a lorry ran into the back of a tourist bus, causing a large spillage of fuel. The accident caused a long tailback of traffic around the airport, which is only a few minutes away from the scene of the accident. The emergency services were quickly on the scene and were able to divert the traffic around the scene of the accident so that the damaged vehicles could be moved from the carriageway and the fuel spill could be dealt with. The traffic was soon back to normal.
The second incident this week was a fire in Nuevo Horizonte. The fire was in the bin store at the Caleta Paraiso complex. The bin store was full at the time and a lot of smoke was created by the fire.
Fortunately, the bin store is quite a way from the apartments, and no damage to property appears to have occured. There were also cars parked close to the fire but they were also unscathed, as the fire was restricted to the store itself. The firemen had to break through the wall of the stores to allow them to reach the seat of the fire.
