Emergency services have been kept busy this week with both a fire and a traffic accident occuring between Caleta de Fuste and the airport.
The director general for the promotion of tourism of the Government of the Canaries visited Fuerteventura recently to see the work in progress to increase and improve the beach at Playa Blanca, due to be completed in early April this year.
Fuerteventura was hit by very high winds on Thursday this week. The winds were coming from the east, and the waves on the sea were fabulous to watch. some disruption was caused though.
If the go ahead has not been given for the proposed improvements to Caleta de Fuste beach by March 2nd, then local businessmen and residents of Caleta intend to bring the island to a standstill.
The main day of Christmas for Spanish children is not the 25th December but the night of the 5th January. This is the night that the children get their presents. Good children get nice presents and bad children get coal.
This year we knew one place that we could get something to eat was the Chinese restaurant, Buen Gusta. As usual the rest of Puerto del Rosario seemed to have shut down for the evening, but as we knew everyone would turn out just before midnight we weren't surprised by how quiet it was in the capital of Fuerteventura .
