The new cruise season is set to begin in October and several new cruise ships are set to visit Fuerteventura.

Cruise ship According to the Consejera de Turismo, Águeda Montelongo, “the increase of the number of ships that will arrive at the island, is positive, and one more example, of the diversification of tourism in Fuerteventura. Also, it is a reflection of the work that the Board of Tourism is doing for the increase tourism in the island.

Improvements to harbour The recent work on the Port of Puerto del Rosario has, facilitated the arrival of more ships. This not only provides benefits in the capital, Puerto del Rosario with the visit of its crew and passengers, but, there is also a chance to show off the rest of the island with a series of excursions to different points on Fuerteventura”.

The inclusion of Fuerteventura as a port of call for more cruise ships like the Silver Shadow, with capacity for over three hundred people almost all of American nationality, reflects the prestige that Fuerteventura now has in the eyes of the tourist industry. In tourism fairs and magazines Fuerteventura will be increasingly mentioned and its links with the luxurious image of cruise ships cannot help but increase the image and prestige of the Island, which hopefully will filter through to other areas of the tourist industry making Fuerteventura an even more sought after destination.
