The concejal de Medio Ambiente y Playas, Genaro Saavedra, will represent the City Hall tomorrow, 12 of June, at a presentation in the Salón Baldaquino, Hotel Reina, Las Palmas Gran Canarias, being presented with an award for the quality of its beach.
The municipality of La Oliva has again been given the blue flag of quality for the beach Grandes Playas, in Corralejo, fulfilling criteria required by the FEE (Foundation for the Environmental Education) such as an excellent quality of bathing water, quality of rescue services, lifeguards and first aid, provision of facilities for people with disabilities, and also by providing environmental education and information.
The standards for blue flag awards are set by an international jury comprising of representatives from the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), a division of the United Nations Environment Programme (PNUMA-UNEP),the World Organization of Tourism (OMT), European Union and by the Organization for the Conservation of the Sea areas in the European Union (NGO).
