Nine Fishing Boats, which were constructed in Murcia, come to Fuerteventura

The Town pays the costs of relocating the boats together with contributes to the Government of the Canary Islands in the financing of its construction .

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, which Antonio Mesa directs, assumed the cost of the moving the nine fishing boats to Fuerteventura, that have been built in shipyards in Murcia. Antonio Mesa and president of the Cabildo, Mario Cabrera, met this morning with the owners of six of the boats that arrived today to Fuerteventura from the mainland, three other boats had been previously transferred to the Fuerteventura, making nine in all.

The nine vessels with a length of between 6 and 15 meters in length, were acquired as part of an initiative taken with Legislaura from the past and that also has the support of the Canary Islands Government, with addition of aid and investment from the Town and directly from the owners. During the process of building the ships at the yard which had been commissioned for the work, the construction stalled, and was only eventually completed because many of the owners personally travelled to Murcia and got involved themselves in finishing the project. That also forced additional efforts by the Government of the Canary Island into giving new aid, but the important thing here is that the boats are on the island and has the administrative licenses, and after finalizing some details of equipment may begin this summer to fish, "said Antonio Mesa.

The nine ships for Corralejo and Morro Jable Gran Tarajal, mean a major renovation in part of the inshore fishing fleet. "The fishermen have had to take a very complicated situation, but step by step and with the cooperation of the Government and the Town have managed to go and break the deadlock. Counsellor Fishing Hall has had meetings with even the authorities in Murcia so that they too are involved streamlining the administration of the industrial process and authorization for the transfer. The result is that the ships are already on the island, "the president of the Cabildo, Mario Cabrera".
