The town hall puts into operation the island sports centre `Francisco melián'

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura opens to the public starting this Sunday, June 28, the facilities of the Island Sports Center 'Melián Francisco', whose renovations and expansion the Town has invested more than two million euros, with the assignment land required by the municipality of Puerto del Rosario. The President of the Cabildo, Mario Cabrera explained that the outcome of this effort is a modern sports infrastructure appropriate to the needs and well located close to the Bus Station. We want the investment here, to go to expand the facilities for sports activities. " For its part, the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Marcial Morales explained that this infrastructure is another example that when various administrations involved and collaborating the results are very positive. " Marcial Morales and Mario Cabrera were accompanied on the visit this morning to installations made by the Minister of Sports insular, Edilia Perez, and the councilor of Sports Beatriz Fajardo.

The new sports complex has two artificial turf fields, 11 soccer regulation size, adaptable to four football fields 7, in addition to changing facilities and bleachers. The total area is 21,525 m², in an enclosure that includes a closed perimeter with controlled access for entry and exit from the public and for health care, thanks to a design free of architectural barriers, as the current legislation on accessibility .

With regard to the changing rooms are located in the main building complex, a structure of 500 m ² which has eight changing rooms and four restrooms. The space of the spectator stand will be two modules with 30 m ² warehouse and a capacity for 300 people each. The installation is complemented by eight light towers 20 meters high, with six 2,000-watt projectors each, plus a perimeter fence and asphalt 7326 m ².
