Applications will be able to be made throughout March.

The Ministry of Industry and New Technologies directed by Andrés Valerón, have opened the annual period for applicationsfor subsidies for rural electrification and renewable energy works. The official announcement states that grants of between 235 euros and 2 500 euros will be available per dwelling for rural electrification with a maximum of 3 700 euros for renewable energy. In both cases the limit of the grant is 50% of the cost of the installation. Interested persons have up to 31st March to place there requests with the Cabildo.

Windmill Punta Jandia According to Andrés Valerón the announcement has a double objective. On the one hand it aims to promote the burial of electrical cables in rural centres, because the cost of this work is very high. This burial is fundamental to avoid the proliferation of aerial electrical cables, and besides it is demanded by the PIOF. It also aims to support the installation of solar panels and windmills in dwellings, especially where there is diffgicult access, which would cause the cost of installation of a supply to be high for the owners.

The Cabildo announces these subsidies annually, and last year a total of 80 homes benefited.

Interested parties can find more information in the Cabildo Offices (Industria Tel 928855003). Details are also in BOP nº48 de 13 de abril de 2005.
