New fishing boat At the moment the hulls of the boats have been completed and all that remains is to add the cabin, the bridge and the equipment to each of the vessels. It is expected that in around three months the boats will be operating from Fuerteventura.

The construction of the boats has been carried out to the norms that mark a vessel for this sector. The new boats are 9.20 metres in length and 3.20 metres wide, and the most modern materials have been used in their construction. The craft are being fitted out with the newest technological elements and the most outstanding benefit of this is that the boats will be able to be self sufficient at sea for up to seven days, and the fishermen will then have the possibility of operating in fishing grounds that are further afield.

According to Juan Estárico “this development means a renovation and improvement of the traditional fleet of Fuerteventura, with which it will be possible to increase the quantity of fish caught, including above all tuna, since several features of the boats have been designed with that purpose in mind”.
