New Technology Arrives At Villaverde

Villaverde now has a telecentro building and has been incorporated into the network of computers being installed across the island, which are available free to the general public. The ayuntamiento recently presented to the Asociación Cultural Datsimaal in Villaverde, six computers, fully equipped with scanner, printer, recorder and webcam which contact the internet via satellite, plus office and encyclopaedic software.

Villaverde is now the ninth town to join Proyecto Semilla, the project to make new technology accessable across Fuerteventura, with residents of Vallebrón, Lajares, Tindaya, La Caldereta, Corralejo, El Cotillo, La Oliva, El Roque and now Villaverde able to access the internet in the telecentro buildings. Furthermore, anyone who has a computer, such as a laptop with a facility for wireless access will also be able to use the telecentro facilities without charge.
