It was all happening yesterday!
Yesterday we set off for a quick trip around the island,to the the airport,Parque Hollandes, La Oliva, El Cotillo Lajares and finally to see the Carnaval 2010 in Corralejo, so that we could update pages on the site.
It turned out to be quite an eventful trip!
First of all there was a waterfall running down the main street in Nuevo Horizonte. The water was off in the area for several hours in order to reapir the leak.
Then there was a bad accident on the road out from Puerto del Rosario (by the petrol station) Seems this car left the road, injuring its 3 young occupants. No other car seemed to be involved. The car was travelling north on the FV3 one of the passengers aged 15 was taken to the hospital with minor head injuries. The others aged 18 and 22 were taken to the hospital for a check up.
The carnaval in Corralejo began quite normally and was very impressive. There was a stall advertising the opening of the first Lidl store in Fuerteventura, which opens in Puerto del Rosario on Thursday this week. they gave out free gifts of chocolate and a notebook to write your shopping list in!
Then strangely enough the floodgates opened again and water again began cascading down the street in Corralejo, causing the carnaval parade to have to dirvert down the wrong side of the street!
This guy was making stirling efforts to clean it up!
