Meetings About New Points System For Driving Licences

The minister of Transport and Communications of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, directed by Pilar Rodríguez, will provide, in the first two weeks of June, some informative workshops about the introduction of the new points system for driving licences. The initiative will begin in the Gran Tarajal area, and will then be carried out at other places on the island. The public information campaign will be run alongside that being conducted by the Spanish Government.

The minister, Pilar Rodríguez, has held a meeting with Pedro J. Pastor, who has responsibility for traffic matters in Las Palmas, and asked for collaboration in the presentation of the workshops. Besides tha other topics covered the meeting between the two provided the opportunity to confirm the details of the workshop.

”The general ignorance regarding this new law on the part of the general public has been one of the fundamental elements that have caused the department to create these workshops, which will be open to all interested parties. The new laws will affect all the professional drivers, whether public or private sector, as well as private drivers”, emphasised Pilar Rodríguez

The meetings will be attended by members of the department of Transport and Communication with knowledge of this matter, who will aim to answer questions relating to the “carné por puntos” that arise during the meeting, and to give drivers a better understanding of this new law.

The intention to begin the series of meetings in Gran tarajal is because there are already activities related to “III Encuentro Insular de Transportes”, and among these is included a talk about the “carné por puntos”. This has resulted in lots of interested people interested in the topic being in the area.

The new law, which comes in to force onnthe 1st of July, is according to the counsellor “another contribution in the fight against traffic accidents, and the quantity of information that reaches the population will be a determining factor in its effectiveness.”
