Caleta beach has finally got at least part of the upgrade that campaigners such as AECA have been trying to push through for the last 20 odd years.
The work that has been done over the last couple of days has involved lifting and sifting the sand within 25 metres of the shoreline. This removes pebbles and stones by passing the sand through a riddle and as you can see from the photographs a lot of rock has been removed.
The next part of the process will involve adding new sand over the area that is more than 25 metres from the shore. One of the workers said that there would be around 1000 trucks of sand distributed along the beach.
This is only part of the whole plan, but it has already had a significant beneficial effect on the way the beach looks.
