The main North-South Highway, the FV-2 is to be closed between the airport and El Castillo (Caleta de Fuste) for two weeks while the roadway is improved. The road will be closed from Monday 7th November.
The Cabildo are advising the use of the FV-20 as an alternative route. The FV-20 should be used between the connections to the FV-2 at Pozo Negro or Gran Tarajal and that at Puerto del Rosario.
Those of us that travel along the road regularly can vouch for the necessity of the work, which will cost in the region of half a million euros.
At the same time the width of the road will be increased and the drainage will be improved in the area of El Mattoral. According to Jesús León, consejero de Infraestructuras, this part of the work will not require the road to be closed.
