Increase in the number of tourists visiting Fuerteventura
The tourist sector on Fuerteventura is on line to end the year not only with positive results but with the greatest percentage increase in visitors amongst all the Canary Islands. The increase this year compared with last year is expected to be not less than 7.95% which is equivalent to 88,000 extra visitors compared to 2005.
Almost 350,000 of the tourists that have arrived so far this year were British, an increase of 6.2% on the same period last year. The increase in the number of German tourists is about 3% less than this but the number of German tourists visiting the island is greater than for any other nationality of foreign tourists at 573,187. The greatest percentage increase was the number of tourists from Italy, which at 73,030 is a 26.75% increase on last year, with Dutch tourists having increased in number by 13.21%.
