Many people were present yesterday in Corralejo to attend an evening instrumental in the cultural development of the municipality: the inauguration of the new Auditorium Corralejo. The evening began with speeches by the President of the Cabildo Mario Cabrera, the mayor of La Oliva, Claudina Morales and the councillor of Culture, Soledad Aguiar, who all stressed the importance of the new facilities, which are presenting programmes of drama and music that until now could not be held in Corralejo.
After the ribbon cutting, the group Karizma presented the first musical offering at the auditorium with an amazing spectacle of jazz music with a backdrop of video scenes reflecting on climate change. After this the public toured the new Municipal Library, and Exhibit Hall, where cocktails and other refreshments were offered to the attendees, who were able view a collection of 44 works of art presented Asociación de Artistas Plásticos de Fuerteventura.
The municipality of La Oliva has invested more than 500,000 euros in top-level facilities and highest sound quality. The mayor Claudina Morales was pleased "because we are aware that Corralejo demands modern facilities that would allow for development and presentations of all kinds of cultural performances." Moreover, as the President of the Cabildo, Mario Cabrera said "Corralejo is now a must for the cultural performances arriving in the Canaries."
The councillor of Culture, Soledad Aguiar, stressed the variety and quality of the cultural program offered at the auditorium during November and December, as well as the possibilities offered by new Municipal Library, a resource of more than 600 square meters wide, and the Exhibition Hall. "Until now there was no space that would allow us to provide cultural experiences of this type. It is a resource that's going to bring the best possible offerings from public and private spheres, which until now could not host. "
