Tourists from the first cruise ship of the season recieve free discount passes

The card offers discounts at 105 shops and eateries throughout the island

The cruise ship pier is now open for the season. The cruise ship that docked first was the 'Aida Sol' that opens the season, and its passengers were the first to receive and to use the discount card for tourists to Fuerteventura.

The Minister of Tourism and Trade of the Cabildo, and Candelaria Acosta Umpiérrez Blas, and the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Marcial Morales, welcomed the ship and took the opportunity to promote this initiative.

Fuerteventura Card Pass allows visitors to enjoy discounts at 105 establishments in all major municipalities. It is an initiative that works in other cruise destinations at moderate rates and that in the case of the island will be distributed free during this season. This cruise season now started is expected to berth around 40 ships until April 2012, representing a ship a week.

The 'Aida Sun' has a capacity of 2,400 passengers. Has a length of 253.30 meters and a width varying between 32.60 and 37.60 meters. Sails under Italian flag and was carrying on this trip mainly German tourists. The route it takes is to the ports of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Funchal, Santa Cruz de La Palma, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Arrecife Puerto del Rosario.

From now until April 2012, the 'Aida Sun' will dock25 times at the Cruise Pier in Puerto del Rosario.
