An amateur surfing competition was held yesterday at Playa Blanca, there were lots of trophies on offer. As always here on Fuerteventura the Red Cross were on duty to make sure that all competitors were kept safe!

The competition was for men and women and children. Everyone is encouraged to participate.

The day also included a bodyboarding competition, and was organised by the ayuntamiento of Puerto del Rosario.

Playa Blanca, close to Puerto del Rosario, is a good beach for learning the sport of surfing. The waves are good but not as powerful as on the main surfing sites such as the north and west shores and around Lobos island. Some of the islands surf schools use this beach.
