Hotel Geranios Suites, Local 20

Gone Fishing, Fuerteventura's newest fishing tackle shop, was established in Caleta de Fuste, after Aram (the owner) visited the island in 2005 & struggled to find decent end tackle to match the more than decent fishing that he discovered in the area. It is located on the main Caleta de Fuste beach front, next to Beach Cafe, underneath Hotel Geranios Suites. See the Caleta de Fuste map for the exact location.

Aram, who is multi-lingual, has over 32 years of experience in both sea & fresh water fishing. Having grown up fishing the Mediterranean & later the Red Sea, he then spent 19 years in Britain fishing the lakes, rivers & the sea. During this period, he also frequented many other international venues (The States, Canada, Africa, the Indian Ocean, to name a few) in pursuit of his passion. Therefore over the years, he has developed a very extensive knowledge of various fishing methods.

Local Knowledge

Tuna caught near Caleta de Fuste

Being based in a shop that provides easy access to equipment for the locals Aram has already built up a good understanding of what works well in the area, and has his finger on the pulse with respect to what is happening in terms of the methods and baits that are succeeding at any given time.

The photo shows a tuna caught from the local rocks by Billy, one of the locals. Besides 6kg Tuna it is possible to catch a whole host of species including Parrot Fish (Vieja), Variety of Snappers, including the common Bream, Mullet, Garfish, Needle Fish, Blue Fish, Bonito Tuna, Barracuda, Wahoo & Sting Rays. All these can be caught from the rocks in Caleta or beaches. Further out, the big game include Blue & White Marlin (up to 450Kg), Sword Fish, Bluefin Tuna (upto 350 Kg), Dolphin Fish, Sharks (Blue, Mako & Hammer Head). To see photographs of some of these species have a look at the fishing in Fuerteventura page.

Gone Fishing is a professional tackle shop which stocks all the well known brands such as Penn, Shakespeare, TiCA, Kali Kunnan, Grauvell, Okuma, Yo-Zuri, Maria, Siglon, Teklon, Power Pro, Mustad etc....which makes a nice change from hardware shops with boxes of low quality gear, which is often what's available to good anglers on holiday. The shop also stocks Beuchat & Ness snorkeling and diving equipment. All the best baits for local fishing are also sold at the shop. The shop caters for all the serious local anglers (both shore & boat) and also for beginners, where you can pick up a complete travel set-up which packs nicely for the suitcase, from as little as 15 Euros (including bait for the day!!!) For the serious travel angler, the shop has a huge selection of suitcase rods for any type of fishing you can think of, beach/surf casting, spinning, float fishing & even 50lb class boat rods (stand up, trolling & even jigging!). Up to incredible 19 foot long float fishing rods that fit in a suitcase (packed size 2ft 4") are available. Some Gone Fishing customers invested in these kind of rods over 3 years ago & they continue to use them here & other holiday destinations without any problems.
