This festival gets bigger and better each year. This year the weather was very pleasant with the winds strong enough for the kite flying, but there was a calima on which spoiled the normal deep blue skies that backdrop the kites.
The event was popular and people passing by couldn't help but notice the brightly coloured kites, and many stopped to take a look and a walk around the beach.
The event opened at 9.30am on the Friday, and then and Saturday and Sunday there was a spectacular exhibition of acrobatic and static kites. At 10 am on Friday schoolchildren from the island arrived and under supervision they learned some of the tecniques used in kite flying, and had a chance to watch watch the best kiters in the world flying their kites.
The kites were flown again on Sunday and there was a raffle in aid of charity. On Sunday evening the was a final meeting and then a closing ceremony at Playa Las Cavellinas.

I found this dog very amusing - this photograph gives some idea of the amount of kites on display this year.
