La Pared, Fuerteventura

La Pared is a village on the west coast of Fuerteventura, that has undergone a series of developments which means that it is now relatively large.

The entrance to the village is interesting because when you turn off the main road it is a dirt track for about 200 metres before you reach the tarmacked section. There are a couple of places to eat and a hotel as well as a driving range, where golfers can practise

The west coast of Fuerteventura is subject to larger seas than the east coast and this makes the village an attractive place to those in search of large waves for surfing etc. On the other hand casual bathers need to take a little more care.

There are a couple of beaches, the Playa de Parad and the Playa de Viejo Rey (beach of the old king), and the headland, Punta de Guadalupe, that gives some shelter to the Playa de la Pared, has very interesting geological features.

There is a pretty church named San Benedicto de Ahbed and a childrens play area.

Just north of the town, at Las Hermosas, there is a football stadium where the former Playas de Jandia used to play their home games, before they moved to a stadium in Costa Calma.
