When we vistied Las Playitas last year, it was a small Spanish fishing village with a few houses, typical Spanish bars and restaurants and a majestic lighthouse, El Faro de Entalada, accessible via a lethal trip up a very winding narrow mountain pass, which this intrepid reporter refused to drive back down again.
Just over a year later and the village is still intact, the rest of the bay, which is divided from the village by a headland, however has been taken over as part of the new Bahia Grande luxury facilities. Another large hotel is under construction
The hotel has a large swimming pool and a waterslide and facilities for children.
Las Playitas has a beautiful beach, however the sand is almost black. There are facilites for sailing and diving on the beach.
