Nuevo Horizonte/Costa Antigua Fuerteventura
Nuevo Horizonte is otherwise known as Costa Antigua is situated on the east coast of Fuerteventura, close to Caleta de Fuste, and only a short distance from Fuerteventura airport. The area was originally developed with tourism in mind, Caleta Paraiso and Cocosol being two of the more established complexes. The hotels that are in Costa Antigua,are the Costa Tropical, Castillo de Elba Aparthotel and La Piramides.
The visitors that appreciate Nuevo Horizonte most are those that are looking for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. One of the busiest bars in the area is Kavanaghs situated in the Caleta Paraiso complex, also in the new Antigua Bay complex, an American/Irish bar has opened called Mustang Sally's which is also proving to be very popular. You can also eat at the Oasis Tropical and at the Elba hotel. There is also a cafe, called Volvereta, that sells freshly made bread and cakes which has just relocated across from Kavanaghs and Tommy Nutters II is open on the same block as Mustang Sallys. There are also a pizza restaurant, Villa Pizza.
The newer developments have been constructed on a more residential basis. The area is still developing, with several newer developments having been recently completed, and several more "up market" developments are on the way. These include Golf 133 and Antigua Bay. These two complexes are now being lived in and the latest developments Palm Gardens and Ocean Villas are coming along nicely.
It is a short distance from Nuevo Horizonte to the larger resort of Caleta de Fuste. Caleta de Fuste can be reached by following an attractive coastal walk that is populated by amusing chipmunks. this walkway has lighting and this makes walking into or out of Costa Caleta after sundown a reasonable option. For those of you that regard walking as something not to be done on holiday, Caleta can also be reached by taxi. The fare is around 3 euros. You may also take the free bus courtesy of the Elba hotel. This runs on the hour, except for 2 and 3 o'clock in the afternoon, and its first call is at the Atlantico shopping center.
