A walk from Caleta de Fuste to Nuevo Horizonte.

Starting the walk at the harbour you will find the begining of the coastal path close to the mini train terminus. The walk will take anything upwards from 30 minutes. You can't really go wrong as the coastal path and cycle path runs all the way to the disused water park at Costa Antugua or Nuevo Horizonte as it is also known.

The first part of the walk runs between the sea-front hotels and apartments and the sea.

On the next part of the walk, you will see a cactus garden that was planted last year on the peninsular. The plants here are growing well, unlike the palms along the route, which have not coped with the weather conditions. There is nearly always someone fishing from the rocks and there are plenty of benches to sit on whilst you enjoy the view. You might also decide to feed the chipmunks. They like biscuits, nuts and fruit.

As you approach the disused waterpark you may use the shortcut, a pathway through the "moon" as the locals call it. You will see it on your left. If you follow this you will have to turn right to get back to the road.

The easiest route though is to go past the waterpark, then turn left, wandering up through the new building developments that are almost complete now. After a couple more minutes you will arrive in Nuevo Horizonte , or Costa Antigua as it is now called.

Here there are several bars and restaurants thay you can enjoy. A taxi back will cost about 3 euro, or of course you can walk back again.

Walking to Caleta

If you walk to Caleta from Costa Antigua walk directly down to the sea then turn right along the costal path, towards Caleta.The first hotel complex that you see is the San Jorge. If you are looking to get to the beach then it is much better as you arrive in Caleta to cut across so that you have the San Jorge to your left. Follow the map below. There is a narrow alleyway leading to the nbeach to the left of the Barcelo Hotel that leads to the beach.

You can see it is much further to the sea if you stay on the path, but it is pleasant to walk the longer way as you will come to the harbour.
