Parque Holandes, Fuerteventura

Parque Holandes lies at the east coast of Fuerteventura between Corralejo and Puerto del Rosario and is part of the municipality of La Oliva. It was designed by a Dutch architect and that’s the reason why it is called ´Dutch Park´. Parque Holandes consists of both luxury villas and more basic apartments which can provide affordable rental accommodation as Parque Holandes is located some distance from main tourist resorts. However, you can meet people from all nationalities and all walks of life there.

Getting to Parque Hollandes

Bus number 6 leaves twice an hour from Puerto del Rosario and will take you to Parque Holandes in about 15 minutes. If you only want to spend part of the day here you can get on the same bus again and you will be in Corralejo in another 15 minutes

What you will find in Parque Holandes

As you enter Parque Holandes, you will see an attractive windmill, with a restaurant close by. The wellness center Centro Mirak is next to that. Here you can get beauty, and health treatments and it is a great place to recharge your batteries. Continuing along the road will bring you past several houses and tourist complexes and on to the shopping centre which forms the heart of Parque Holandes. There are bars, restaurants and a supermarket. At the mountain side of the shopping centre you will find Bisi-Fuerte, the only business on Fuerteventura who sells Bio-fire places. In the daytime it is very quiet but in the afternoon and evening the place comes alive and tourists and locals meet at the shopping centre. The other half of Parque Holandes lies further up the hill and you can get some beautiful sea views on the higher ground.

Plans for the area

In the near future, the coastal area near Parque Holandes, of ´El Jablito´ might change drastically. Investors from the Spanish mainland are planning to build a private clinic, harbour with sailing school, golf course, beach club and a big hotel. The project is called “La Oliva Sun City – Centro de Salud Fuerteventura”. If this project is realized it will provide jobs for a lot of people and will give an economic boost to La Oliva. However, there are objections to the plan and this may never take place.

The Centro Cultural de Parque Holandes

The Centro Cultural de Parque Holandes provides a centre for the community. There are Spanish and English lessons, sports and dances arranged, and if you are new to the area then this would be a good place to contact to make new friends and find out what is happening in the area. You will find it at the back of the shopping centre.
