Puerto del Rosario's 2005 festival began on the 22nd of September and continued until the of 9th October. The Fiestas en Honor a Nuestra Senora del Rosario, this year celebrated 100 years since the parish was created.

 

Apart from mass and prayers conferences were presented on topics such as the origins and history of the parish, challenges facing the church and poverty and social exclusion. There was also a fair, held near the bus station.

On the 7th October, after the midday Celebration of the Eucarist, there was a procession, where the Venerated Image of the Virgin was carried around the streets of Puerto del Rosario.

  

  

  

After the parade, in the square behind the church, food was available for those taking part, a lovely selection of paella, canarian potatoes, tortilla etc.

Then there was music and dancing, and the traditional puppets did their dancing too. Lots of people were enjoying food and drink with family and friends.

Other activites were also going on during the celebration,including the fair which was held near the bus station. There were lots of sporting events, such as swimming competitions, football competitions, canarian wrestling and a car rally. Events take place for children and music and dancing and comedy events take place too.
