Rallye de Antigua

The annual Antigua car rally takes place on a Saturday at the beginning of September, and is linked to the Fiesta in Antigua which is on at that time. It is always a hot and dusty event during which you can enjoy some spectacular driving.

The route seems to be kept fairly secret until the last minute but involves using the closed dirt track at Los Alares, south of Caleta, and other sections of dirt/tarmac track around the municipality of Antigua.

In 2005 , the start and finish took place at the Atlantico shopping centre in Caleta de Fuste. The participants covered more then 200 kilometres, divided in four sections.

Winner that year was Samuel Lemes from team Racing Tias with a Mitsubishi EVO IX. Second was Yeray Lemes from team Imex Laca with a Mitsubishi EVO VI.
